Welcoming Back an Alumna: Meet Our New Spanish Teacher, Kate Sherwin!

A proud alumna of Saratoga Central Catholic's class of 1996, we are thrilled to welcome Kate Sherwin back as our new Spanish teacher. Kate will be teaching Spanish I, II, and III, bringing her extensive knowledge and passion for the Spanish language to our students.

Kate studied English and Spanish during her undergraduate studies at Siena College. She later earned her master's in Liberal Studies with a focus on writing and language from Skidmore College.

Since 2021, Kate has worked at Siena College in the Higher Education Opportunity Program as a Professional Writing Tutor. She has also held various roles as a writer, editor, and advertising copywriter, publishing numerous articles on motherhood and local businesses in the Saratoga TODAY family of publications. Additionally, she authored a book published by Marian Press in 2018 titled Catholic Baby Names for Girls and Boys: Over 250 Ways to Honor Our Lady. Her contributions to the community earned her the recognition of Saratoga County Woman of Influence in 2021.

When asked about what she is most excited about with joining our community, Kate states, "Sharing my love of the beautiful Spanish language, as well as the cultures and faith of the Spanish-speaking countries."

"I've been a fan of SCC since I was a student there (class of 1996)! Two of my children have graduated from SCC; three are current students; and two more will be coming once they're out of elementary school. Go Saints!"

We look forward to all that Mrs. Sherwin will bring to our school community. Welcome!
